I wanna join the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles?

I wanna be like my father, I wanna be in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, but my parents don't agree to me joining. My father was in several conflicts and retired after the end of Desert Storm. I'm 16 (Almost 17 if that matters) and I'm planning on joining, do you need parents permission to join at 18? Is this a bad idea? Good idea?
